Samkelo Lelethu Mdolomba, popularly known by his stage name Samthing Soweto, is a super talented singer and Songwriter in South Africa. The singer became popular after he got featured on Sun El Musician’s song titled “Akanamali”, his vocal skills was so obvious in the song that he became an all time favorite. he has gone on to release his own songs like Akulaleki which is still topping charts in the country.
Family and Beginning
Samthing Soweto is originally from Protea North, Soweto, a township of Johannesburg, South Africa. The singer is the third child of the family of four and were raised by a single mother. The artiste had to relocate to Eastern Cape to live with his grandmother but later had to move back to Protea north. Due to the difficulties he faced at home the singer resulted to taking drugs and got involved in some crime related activity, till he was finally sent to the Youth detention center for armed robbery where he started working on his career full time, which took his mind off drug and crime totally.

Samthing Soweto got his breakthrough after he got feature on Sun El’s single titled “Akanamali”. Prior to this he had started building his music career after he left the youth center, where he was sent for robbery crimes. He later joined the group The Soil, due to the influence Buhlebendalo Mda, who led the choir he joined after returning back to school. After leaving the soil, Samthing Soweto released his debut album titled “This N That Without Tempo” in 2010, the project was a mixture of Afro pop, Amapiano and R&B.
