Kikuyu Benga musician Jimmy Walter Githinji, popularly known by his stage name Jimmy Wayuni, sadly died in a tragic road crash on Tuesday night after his car rammed into a lorry at Kahawa Sukari near Githurai 45, as he headed to Nairobi from Ruiru, Kiambu County.
https://fakazagods.com=> Wayuni, a retired Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) deputy commissioner was going to drop off a fellow musician when the fatal crash occurred.
Luckily, his friend, Jacksam Kibandi, survived the crash and is currently recuperating in hospital.
He was trying to exit from Thika Road at Githurai 45 when he hit a lorry from behind.
As Wayuni’s family and friends struggle to come to terms with his tragic death, a lady popularly known by her social media name Mercy Murugi has for the first time revealed the late musician as her biological dad.
In her unexpected post, Mercy went on to open up on her toxic relationship with Wayuni which she now deeply regrets.
According to Mercy, she never truly felt like her father deserved the title “Dad” which he always dreamt of until his unfortunate death.
“What many never knew is Jimmy Wayuni is my biological father. And now he’s gone,” read part of the viral tweet.
In a follow-up post, Mercy spoke of how her father’s death had brought her and her female siblings closer than ever before despite them never having met before.
Jimmy Wayuni will be remembered for among other things, the numerous songs to his name.
He kept his private life strictly off cameras but thanks to Mercy’s honest confession now helps paint a clearer picture of who the man really was.
Netizens flooded the post with their messages of condolence, with some reassuring her that it was in order to mourn her father despite having locked him out of her life.
Wayuni’s fans have also taken to social media to eulogize the singer, who also worked with fellow top musicians from central Kenya, including Queen Jane, Musaimo, James Wahome Maingi, and Daniel Kamau (DK).
In an uncanny coincidence last August, another Kikuyu Benga musician John Demathew also perished in a crash involving his car and a lorry near Thika town.
Besides music, the retired taxman also had an interest in filmmaking, having acted in several home-grown movies.
Wayuni, who hailed from Kiamwangi in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, had settled along the Eastern Bypass.
