Rich Mavoko and Diamond Platnumz’s music label were embroiled in a massive contract disagreement
Rich Mavoko was undoubtedly one of the most promising Bongo singers in 2017. He was embroiled in a massive contract disagreement with Diamond Platnumz after he terminated it following complaints of favouritism.
The Roho Yangu singer’s sister, Wenceslaus Dokii has come out to claim that Diamond Platnumz demanded his brother to pay Sh23 million so at to be allowed to terminate the contract he had with WCB. However, they resisted forcing Tanzanian authorities through Baraza La Sanaa Tanzania (BASATA) to mediate between the two.
“Walituambia tuwalipe pesa mob, nikamwambia Diamond no we can’t pay you. It was millions of money inalingana kama ya Harmonize. Nilimwambia pia Sallam (Diamond’s manager) you guys nendeni mkajipekue mjitazame tena, hicho kitu mnachokitaka is it fair?” revealed Dokii.
Following the ugly standoff, they ended up not paying a single cent. According to Mavoko, WCB has unrealistic demands and only wants things done their way without putting the artist’s desires into consideration.
Former WCB artist Harmonize was forced to sell his three houses and a piece of land to raise money in order to pay for his contract termination and went on to form his music label, Konde Music Worldwide.
