KWESTA’S BIOGRAPHY

Born 11th of August, 1998, Senzo Brikka Vilakazi popularly known by his stage name Kwesta, is a prolific Hip-hop/Rap artist in South Africa.

Kwesta who is currently signed to his own Independent media company known as Rap Lyf with fellow rapper Kid X, has released a couple of topnotch songs, that have topped so many music charts in the country.

Kwesta has performed on stage with a lot of other top South African and International acts across the globe.

FAMILY AND BEGINNING

Kwesta is originally from Katlehong, Gauteng, a township also known as “K1”. Although no information is necessarily given about his father but his mother had a major role to play in his career success, as she once help him on so many occasions with taxi fare to the recording studio.

Kwesta developed his love for music at a very young age, which led him into making the decision to run away from home and drop out from school at the age of 16.

EDUCATION

Kwesta didn’t finish from high school due to his quest to pursue his music career. He attended Phumulani Secondary School in Katlehong for three years, and later Alafang High School.

Kwesta while in school developed interest in poetry, receiving positive feedbacks and remarks from his colleagues back in school.

Kwesta must have dropped out of school but he is not encouraging it and he is looking into furthering his education in future.

MUSICAL MILESTONE

Kwesta over his career has achieved so many great milestones but like any other passionate super talent, music for him started at a very young age.

Kwesta formed a music group in 2003 with a couple of his friends. At that time he was known as Quest. The group named “Ghetto Fellaz” later became known as “The Juvenylz” with other members joining in.

Kwesta later broke out as a solo act and recorded his first demo in his studio. The demo instantly caught the attention of Africa’s Most Southern Record Company (AMS), which led to him getting their permission to use their premises for recording his songs.

Kwesta after a while linked up with Buttabing Entertainment, co-owned by founding members Shugasmakx and Slikour.

Kwesta has since his debut released a couple of solo songs, collaborations and albums. The rapper has developed a brand, which every show promoter and brand wants to reckon with.

DaKAR II (2016)

This is his third studio album, that was released officially on the 26th of February 2016. The album housed a lot of hit songs and got so many streams on various streaming site. The album later went platinum.
